How to Handle Ego Dissolution Safely:
When Ego Death Triggers Panic

Why Ego Death Feels Like Dying:
DMN Shutdown, Liminality, and Safety
Imagine a chick that has spent its whole life growing inside a cosy, sturdy, yet cramped egg. That shell is its entire reality. Then comes the moment when it has grown too large for its home. It begins to break through.
What does it feel like in that moment? On one hand, it is driven by an instinctive, irresistible urge to break free — to reach the light. On the other hand, it feels fear and pain. It is destroying the only world it has ever known.
In the same way, at the highest stages of personal evolution (spiritual growth), we reach a moment when our awareness becomes too large for the last and most solid "shell" of all — our familiar sense of self, our "I". And the process of "hatching" from this shell is a powerful yet deeply contradictory experience we will call the "Final Detachment from the Self."
