How to Stop Being Disappointed in People:
Personal Boundaries and the "Personality Map"

What is Social Perception and How "Theory of Mind" Helps Calibrate Relationship Distance
Imagine embarking on a journey through an unfamiliar country. What is the first thing you would pack? Most likely, a map. You wouldn’t just wander aimlessly, trusting vague fantasies about where the nearest city might be. You would consult the map to plan your route, avoid hazards, and find the best locations.
Yet, when traveling through the most complex and vital "continent"—the world of other people—we often act differently. We wander blindly, guided not by objective facts but by our own "filled-in" mental images. We are then shocked when we stumble into the swamp of disappointment, and we resent the "terrain" for failing to match our imagination.
What if you stopped wandering and started mapping? What if there were a simple method to study the internal landscape of another person and build a safe, enjoyable "route" with them? This method is called the "Personality Map." It allows you to move from guessing to systemic understanding.
