Step 4
How to Change Your Perspective and Stop Suffering: Cognitive Reframing

Why Facts Don’t Hurt, but Thoughts Do: Understanding the ABC Model
Imagine you’ve just lost your job. For most of us, the first automatic reaction is fear, despair, or resentment: “This is a catastrophe!” In that moment, this interpretation feels like the only objective truth.
But let’s look at the exact same situation from a different angle: “Finally, I am free from this boring job! This is my chance to find what I truly love.” Or perhaps: “Excellent, now I have the time to rest and focus on my family.”
Notice this: The event remains identical. However, the perspective—the "glasses" through which we view it—completely transforms our emotional state. Most of us wear the same "dark glasses" of habitual negativity without ever realizing we can take them off. In this lesson, we will learn how to consciously change our "internal optics" and manage our state by shifting our gaze rather than the situation itself.
