Imprinting and Life Scripts

Why the Brain Clings to the Past:
The Myelination of Neural Connections
Imagine freshly fallen, perfectly smooth snow. Someone walks across it, leaving the first deep set of tracks. From that moment on, anyone else who follows is 99% likely to step into that existing rut. It is easier, more familiar, and feels like the only "right" way to go. Carving a new path requires significantly more effort.
Your childhood consciousness is exactly like that fresh snow. The very first rules, explanations, and emotional reactions you received from your parents act as those first, deepest "tracks."
These initial imprints hold a nearly magical power. They become so firmly anchored in your psyche that you continue to walk in that same childhood "rut" for the rest of your life, often without even realizing it. This mechanism is known as dogmatic imprinting or the "first track" effect.
